5 Ways To Help Kids With Homework| Richmond, BC RPC Daycare

Homework sometimes starts way before your kids even get work from their teachers. Homework is more about building habits into your kids so that they succeed for life.

Though the modern day family has a busy life with the many activities and jobs that surround them, the following 5 things will help you in guiding your kids to build the right habits and yet to make learning more fun.

1. Have REGULAR Quiet Reading Times.
Whether you chose to read to them or they read to themselves, your child's ability to read and comprehend will make homework later o.

2. Help your kids commit to memory their math skills so they become more proficient and thus build confidence. ie. 2x6=12

3. Make sure they have time to do homework once they get home from school. Set up a reward for them for completing their homework like free time on the computer.

4. Finding Outside Help and Activities. Sometimes kids just need a change of pace to help break up the routine of daily homework. That's where finding hobbies or activities for them after school helps so much.

5. Allow them to be "inquisitive", to ask questions. Let them learn on their own, to search out things that really interest them. Let them discover it for themselves. Dialogue with them on their interests and be just as curious as they are on whatever they are interested in. You won't be able to stop them talking and sharing. You'll find out so much about who they are.

Have fun learning and growing !
